Stylish men can look forward to an exciting winter 2011/12 of strong colors as fashions take on a very practical look with versatile basics and beautiful accessories. You can select your style from the suave but genteel designs to the macho military look, but with an inclination towards the classical styles, beautifully updated. Fabrics in vogue this season are wool, velvet and leather, adapted to present gorgeous conservative ensembles or audacious masculine outfits. No one can get through the season without a lot of plaid in the wardrobe, at minimum a plaid jacket and several plaid shirts. Timeless jackets, coats and suits are back in fashion. Designers have add a zing to these sometimes staid items of clothing. Small waistlines are showed to their best advantage with the figure hugging waistlines. The double-breasted look adds a suave touch of sophistication while outsized buttons draw attention to the jacket. Finished with geometric shapes sewn on the front, this becomes a focal fashion item. Fabrics are traditional, well-loved fabrics. Soft supple velvet, pure wool and lots of leather are in vogue. Fashion lovers will be chasing the winter blues with a wide range of cherry red, burnt orange and yellow coats, jackets and even trousers. Sweaters will pick up the bold colors, although earthy colored sweaters also make the grade. Favorites black and grey supplement gorgeous camel coats or take center stage. Much of the leather used in the winter ranges is in black and often with an aged, distressed look. The theme of war and the accompanying perceptions of discipline underpin a number of items, including the bomber jacket, trench coats and even the duffle bag. Dark blue and black present a robust masculine look in classic clothing items. Khaki and black are favorite colors here. Complete the aviator look with large scarves and retro sunglasses to complement your bomber jacket. For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, trench coats are available in refreshing new looks. Trendsetters will love the preppy look for casual outings when they wish to show off their nattiest ensembles. Start with a pair of chinos, or even designer jeans, in an earthy color, add a woolen sweater with a simple crew neck and a smart tweed jacket, pulled in nicely at the waist and you are ready to impress the crowd. Take along a college-style padded jacket in case the wind gets up. An alternative to the preppy look is the English country gentleman outfit. Look out for tweed blazers, preferably with leather elbow patches, plain waistcoats and check, or plaid, shirts. Complete the look with corduroy trousers and the Chelsea boots made popular by the Rockers. While earthy colors are in, do not forget to include a Scottish plaid in your accessories. Designers were divided about hats for this season but those who did add them to their collection focused on fedoras, trilbies and Homburgs in primary colors.
